Founded in 1964, Transcat is one of North America’s largest and leading calibration and compliance services providers.
Transcat became aware of Punchout when one of their largest customers informed them they were going to be buying from all of their preferred suppliers using their new e-procurement system, and because Transcat was considered a preferred supplier, they would be expected to make their web store PunchOut-ready to support this new buying process. It was not stated, but heavily implied, that if Transcat did not comply, they would lose their status as a preferred supplier, which would lead to a decrease in sales or even a lost customer.
That was enough incentive for Transcat to act. After accessing multiple vendor’s punchout solutions, they chose to work with Vurbis, for among other reasons, guaranteed they could meet the timeline proposed by Transcat’s customer.
If this customer was demanding Punchout capability from us, we should assume many more of our largest customers use e-procurement systems and will demand Punchout as well. So it became vital to our company’s success to have cost-effective, easy to deploy PunchOut capabilities in our sales channel, an ability we now have thanks to our partnership with Vurbis.
The PunchOut integration was up and running within weeks. And because Vubis is a true “headless” solution delivered via the cloud, it works seamlessly with Transcat’s e-commerce infrastructure without any impact on Transcat’s IT resources – they just maintain their web stores like they did before they were Punchout ready, and the Vurbis platform does the rest.
This example of Transcat’s commitment to its customers is one of the reasons they are a market leader.
